This presentation introduces qualitative inquiry for Model System Centers, with a focus on how and why qualitative research designs
are selected in rehabilitation research. It contrasts qualitative and quantitative approaches, explores philosophical assumptions and
interpretive frameworks, and walks through the five main qualitative research designs with applied examples from PM&R. The session
emphasizes using qualitative methods to better understand lived experiences, inform study design, and strengthen research that aims
to improve outcomes for people with disabilities.
